Rolando Maran has been appointed as the new head coach of Albania’s national football team. The 62-year-old Italian, relatively less known in European football circles, was officially presented on Tuesday.

The Albanian Football Federation (FSHF) had initially announced the termination of its cooperation with Brazilian coach Sylvinho, who had been highly praised for his work. Shortly afterward, Maran was introduced as his successor.

Maran’s most recent role was as head coach of Brescia, where he worked from 28 January to 3 July 2025. He also managed the club earlier between 14 November 2023 and 9 December 2024.

The new Albania coach has spent his entire managerial career in Italy. He has also coached Pisa, Genoa, Cagliari, Chievo, Catania, Varese, Vicenza, Triestina, Bari, and Cittadella.
