Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has expressed concerns over Serbia’s ongoing ambitions and its long-term goal of revenge, emphasizing that the political elite in Belgrade has never abandoned the idea of a “Greater Serbia.” Kurti believes that Serbia is trying to deceive the West, with President Aleksandar Vučić playing a key role in this strategy.

Kurti claims that Serbia’s political elite is still pursuing the concept of a Greater Serbia, which they now refer to as the “Serb World.” According to Kurti, this concept involves the unification of all Serbs into one state, which could lead to the disintegration of neighboring countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Kosovo.

He further explains that Vučić‘s efforts to present himself as a moderate leader are a smokescreen for his actual goals. Kurti believes that Serbia’s ambitions remain unchanged, and that these long-term objectives pose a significant risk to regional stability.

Prime Minister Kurti also warned that Serbia’s primary aim remains revenge, and Kosovo must be prepared for the challenges ahead. He stated that Serbia is exercising “strategic patience,” a tactic it used in the South Caucasus with Nagorno-Karabakh, and that Kosovo should expect a similar approach.

In 2023, Vučić praised Azerbaijan’s actions in Nagorno-Karabakh, where the country regained control over the disputed region after years of military preparation. Vučić emphasized that patience is rewarded, and Kurti suggests that Serbia is adopting the same strategy towards Kosovo. According to Kurti, Serbia’s eventual goal is to exact revenge on Kosovo, and the situation requires Kosovo to be ready for all possible outcomes.

Strategic Preparedness for Kosovo’s Future

Kurti stressed that Kosovo’s preparedness is key to countering any potential Serbian moves. The ongoing dialogue and Kosovo’s commitment to strengthening its defenses remain crucial in ensuring its sovereignty in the face of Serbia’s continued threats.

With Serbia’s objectives clear, Kosovo’s leadership must stay vigilant and proactive in protecting its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
