The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) in North Macedonia has reacted to the rally held in Kumanovo. According to the party, the gathering in support of Aleksandar Vučić, accompanied by anti-Kosovo chants, is a matter of serious concern.
“Yesterday, the public was shocked by claims made by the opposition alleging that a Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of North Macedonia is collaborating with Serbian intelligence services. Today, we witnessed another disturbing scene: a rally in Kumanovo in support of Aleksandar Vučić, accompanied by chants against Kosovo,” the statement said.
The reaction further stated: “Today we saw another troubling development: a rally in Kumanovo supporting Aleksandar Vučić, accompanied by anti-Kosovo slogans. These events come shortly after serious concerns were raised in European debates that North Macedonia is drifting under the influence of the so-called ‘Serbian World’ concept.”
BDI also questioned the silence of the VLEN coalition.
“While serious questions are being raised about foreign influence, the country’s strategic orientation, and the undermining of its Euro-Atlantic path, VLEN continues to focus on Albanian students and attacks against the voice of Albanian youth,” the statement added.
The reaction further emphasized: “When rallies are organized with chants against Kosovo — silence. When suspicions arise about Serbian influence at the highest levels of government — silence. When the country’s political orientation is threatened — once again, silence. Albanians have never been mere decoration in this state. Albanians have been the strongest guarantee of North Macedonia’s pro-European and pro-NATO course. Silence today is not neutrality. Silence today is a political stance.”
