Bajram Begaj, the President of Albania, has congratulated Anthony Albanese, who has been re-elected as the Prime Minister of Australia for a second term.
In a post on the social media platform X, Begaj expressed his pride in seeing a leader with Albanian roots at the helm of such a great country.
“It is a great honor to see a leader with Albanian roots leading a great nation, one of our partners. While Albania and Australia enjoy warm and friendly relations, we are proud to witness such leadership. We hope that our cooperation continues to deepen in the years to come,” Begaj wrote.
In a similar message, Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani also expressed her enthusiasm for further strengthening the bonds between the two nations. She said she looks forward to continuing the efforts to deepen the strong ties between Kosovo and Australia in the years ahead.
“Kosovo highly values its enduring friendship with Australia, based on our mutual commitment to freedom and democracy. I look forward to continuing our work together to deepen the close connections between our countries in the years ahead,” Osmani posted on X.
Anthony Albanese secured his second three-year mandate, becoming the first leader in two decades to achieve consecutive victories. The general elections held on Saturday were dominated by the cost-of-living crisis, but ended with a strong comeback for the left-wing.
