Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Besnik Bislimi, has stated that he has information suggesting the European Union is recommending the lifting of sanctions against Kosovo.
In the European Integration Commission, Bislimi emphasized that “the content of the report is positive.”
“Borrell’s report is a prerequisite for treatment in the European Council; it was prepared in April but faced hesitation in being sent to the Commission. The report was supposed to be submitted the day before yesterday, but a part of the Commission requested a slight delay. We believe it will be submitted next week. The information I have is that the content of the report is positive and recommends the lifting of measures,” Bislimi expressed.
The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the chief negotiator in the dialogue with Serbia, added that the EU measures have indirectly impacted Kosovo’s image and the EU’s integrity.
“The measures have exposed their bias in this entire process,” he added, emphasizing that “there has been a tendency for the measures to be misused.”
“No EU project has been suspended. No project that was being implemented has been suspended… IPA 2023 has not been affected at all. IPA 2024 is under discussion in the EU, but it has not been approved because of the measures,” Bislimi declared.
