A bomb alert prompted a major police response this morning in the area of Rruga e Elbasanit in Tirana, near the United States Embassy, following reports of a suspected explosive device.
According to information reported by RKS News, officers from the State Police arrived at the scene immediately, establishing a security perimeter and suspending vehicle traffic in the section where the suspicious object was detected.
Military engineering specialists and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) experts are also on site, carrying out the necessary inspections to determine the nature of the object and assess any potential threat. At this stage, anti-explosive unit dogs are being used to assist with the investigation.
For security reasons, the area has been sealed off, and citizens have been advised to avoid the vicinity while law enforcement authorities conduct their operations.
So far, no official statement has been issued by the authorities regarding the suspicious object or whether it constitutes a genuine security threat.
