The governments of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement urging an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The statement also called on Israel to allow humanitarian aid access.

“We urge Israel to restore access to humanitarian assistance, including water and electricity, and ensure access to medical care and temporary medical evacuations in accordance with international humanitarian law,” stated the foreign ministers of the three countries, collectively known as the E3.

The ministers expressed their “horror at the civilian casualties” and also called on Palestinian militants from Hamas to release Israeli hostages.
