Weapons and ammunition seized near Croatian-Serbian border crossing
Tovarnik, Croatia – Croatian customs officials have uncovered 11 automatic rifles (AK-47s) and accompanying ammunition hidden in a vehicle registered in Kosovo during a routine border inspection.
The weapons were found inside a car transporter vehicle with Kosovo license plates at the Tovarnik border crossing, near the town of Vukovar, during a detailed inspection.
Authorities discovered the firearms concealed within one of the transported vehicles, raising suspicions of unauthorized arms trafficking.
Two Kosovo nationals under investigation
According to Croatian media, both the driver and a passenger—citizens of the Republic of Kosovo—were en route to Switzerland when the weapons were detected.
The individuals are now under investigation on suspicion of unauthorized possession of firearms and explosives, a criminal offense under Croatian law.
No further information about their identities or potential links to organized crime has been disclosed at this stage.
