The Special Prosecution of Kosovo (PSRK) has filed an indictment against Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi, accusing them of collecting and transmitting sensitive information to Serbia’s intelligence agency (BIA). The charges include espionage and, in Qerimi’s case, illegal possession of firearms.
According to the indictment, Shabani and Qerimi allegedly provided intelligence on the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK), Kosovo Police, the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), and specific events and locations, including a war hospital and a massacre site. Prosecutors claim their actions were intended to create interethnic tensions and spread misinformation, particularly linking the UÇK hospital to alleged organ trafficking.
Shabani is accused of communicating classified details to high-ranking BIA officials through emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings in Serbia. Qerimi allegedly provided information about security officials, witnesses in organized crime cases, and strategic locations.
Authorities arrested both individuals on June 5, 2024. During a search, police found a firearm and ammunition in Qerimi’s possession, leading to additional charges for illegal weapon possession.
The case underscores ongoing security concerns between Kosovo and Serbia, with espionage accusations fueling tensions in an already fragile regional dynamic.
