Europol has announced the dismantling of a Balkan drug cartel following a large-scale international operation that led to the arrest of 12 suspects across multiple countries.

According to an official statement, the operation—carried out on April 15—was supported by law enforcement authorities in Montenegro and Germany, with additional assistance from Austria and Spain.

Authorities confirmed that four of the arrests took place in Germany, while a High-Value Target was apprehended in Montenegro. The suspects are believed to be part of a criminal network involved in large-scale international trafficking of cocaine and cannabis.

Investigators said the individuals, residing primarily in Montenegro and Germany, played various roles within the organization, including financing, coordination, and logistical support.

The coordinated crackdown highlights intensified cross-border cooperation in tackling organized crime networks operating throughout Europe, particularly those linked to the Western Balkans.

Europol emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, with authorities continuing efforts to identify additional suspects and dismantle the broader criminal infrastructure.
