The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo and acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has announced that an extraordinary parliamentary session for the election of the President will be held at 20:30.
In a Facebook post, Haxhiu confirmed that two candidates have been proposed for the presidency: Feride Rushiti and Hatixhe Hoxha.
Feride Rushiti is the director of the Kosovo Rehabilitation Center for Torture Survivors, an organization focused on supporting victims of wartime trauma. Rushiti and her organization have previously been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, highlighting her work in human rights and victim rehabilitation.
Hatixhe Hoxha is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Pristina and has been a member of Lëvizja Vetëvendosje since 2010.
Haxhiu called on all MPs to participate in the session, stressing their constitutional obligation to take part in the presidential election process.
