The Central Labour Inspectorate has called on contractors and investors in the construction sector to comply with suspension orders issued for construction sites where violations were identified during a recent inspection campaign.

In an official announcement, the institution stressed that no construction activities should be carried out and no protective tapes should be removed until all legal requirements set by labour inspectors are fully met.

According to the statement, any action in violation of these decisions constitutes a breach of occupational safety and health regulations and falls under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo, which refers to the destruction, damage, or removal of protective equipment and endangering workplace safety. Authorities warn that, in addition to misdemeanour proceedings, criminal charges will also be initiated in cooperation with the State Prosecutor against violators.

The Inspectorate emphasized that occupational safety and health rules are not optional but a legal and human obligation aimed at protecting workers’ lives and preventing the costs of workplace accidents.

It further urged all contractors and investors to cooperate with labour inspectors, respect suspension orders, and take measures to improve safety standards at their construction sites.
