A tragic accident occurred this morning on the A3 Bregana–Zagreb–Lipovac highway, involving a bus and a vehicle, both with license plates from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to Croatian media reports, the accident resulted in two fatalities and 31 injuries, with some of the injured in critical condition.

The Minister of Health of Croatia has confirmed that a third of the injured are in critical condition and have been transported to hospitals in Zagreb, Sisak, and Pakrac for further treatment.

Emergency teams arrived at the scene immediately, and traffic was blocked in both directions for several hours, causing long vehicle queues.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred when a Volkswagen vehicle struck a wild boar that had entered the road. The driver of the vehicle stopped to warn other drivers, but a bus approaching the scene could not stop in time and collided with the car, breaking through the guardrail and crossing into the opposite lane.

Investigations into the full causes of the accident are ongoing.
