The French Embassy in Kosovo has condemned in the strongest terms the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc water canal in the village of Varagë, Zubin Potok, which occurred late on Friday night. The explosion, which targeted a critical piece of infrastructure, endangered Kosovo’s water supply and electricity generation.
In its official statement, the French Embassy emphasized that this attack on Kosovo’s vital infrastructure should be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible must be brought to justice. The embassy also highlighted the importance of the canal, which is essential for both the water supply and the operation of the country’s power plants.
“The French Embassy strongly condemns the attack on critical infrastructure in Kosovo, damaging a vital water canal in Zubin Potok that is essential for Kosovo’s water supply and the operation of its power plants. This attack must be investigated, and the perpetrators must be held accountable,” the statement read.
Furthermore, the embassy expressed gratitude to the NATO-led KFOR mission and the EU rule-of-law mission EULEX for their swift response to the situation and welcomed the ongoing coordination with the Government of Kosovo.
“We also thank KFOR and EULEX for their quick response, and we welcome continued coordination with the Government of the Republic of Kosovo,” the French Embassy added.
