Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, addressed today’s session of the Kosovo Assembly on Kosovo’s accession vote to the Council of Europe (CoE).
Until now, it was speculated that if put on the agenda, the vote could happen in May. “There is still work to be done. The 82% vote is a strong confirmation that Kosovo is a state with consolidated democracy,” she said.
Gërvalla cited Greek rapporteur on Kosovo’s CoE accession, Dora Bakoyannis, who discussed the processes the country has gone through. “Dora Bakoyannis stated in an interview with a Greek newspaper that no state before joining the CoE has been required to meet more conditions than the Republic of Kosovo,” she declared.
Gërvalla praised President Vjosa Osmani’s performance at the United Nations Security Council session. “She makes us proud with every international appearance,” she said.
She also urged the diaspora to register for the population census, considering it essential. However, there has been no report on the findings of the DASH report, stating that she will address this in the upcoming session.
