Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has stated that the Central Election Commission (CEC) can continue to function normally despite not having its full composition.

Speaking at a press conference, Haxhiu addressed concerns over the unappointed final member of the 11-member commission, stressing that the current structure of 10 members does not jeopardize the electoral process.

She noted that requests have been submitted by both Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Vetëvendosje regarding the appointment of their respective representatives, and that the issue remains under review.

Haxhiu emphasized that principles such as political representation and proportionality must be respected, while also pointing out that constitutional deadlines related to the process—initially led by former President Vjosa Osmani—have already passed.

She reassured that key electoral procedures, including party certification and the certification of election results, will not be affected by the current situation.

“We will act when we consider it appropriate, but with 10 members in the Central Election Commission, nothing is at risk,” Haxhiu stated.
