Kosovo Police Inspectorate Arrests Two Officers Suspected of Bribery

The Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK) has arrested two police officers from the Regional Road Traffic Unit in Peja on suspicion of bribery and abuse of official duty, following a report submitted by a concerned citizen.

According to IPK, the officers allegedly stopped the citizen at a checkpoint and demanded a monetary bribe in exchange for not issuing a fine.

Following preliminary investigative actions, IPK confirmed that the officers were arrested on suspicion of “Accepting Bribes.” Upon the prosecutor’s decision, both suspects have been detained for 48 hours.

“To prevent any potential interference with the investigation and to protect the integrity of the legal process, IPK has also recommended their suspension from duty,” the official statement reads.

What’s Next?

IPK stated that further actions will be taken in accordance with its legal mandate and in coordination with the competent prosecution.

The Inspectorate also thanked citizens for their cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening integrity within the Kosovo Police.
