Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Glauk Konjufca, has discussed the long waiting times faced by Kosovo citizens and members of the diaspora at Croatian border crossings with Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlić Radman.
According to Konjufca, the issue was addressed during a telephone conversation in which he expressed concern over the difficulties that prolonged border procedures are causing travelers during the height of the summer holiday season.
“Regarding the long waiting times our citizens and members of the diaspora are facing at Croatia’s border crossings, I held a telephone conversation today with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Gordan Grlić Radman,” Konjufca said.
He noted that Grlić Radman assured him the matter would be discussed with the relevant Croatian authorities to explore measures aimed at easing traffic flow and reducing waiting times.
Konjufca thanked his Croatian counterpart for his understanding, constructive approach, and willingness to address the issue, emphasizing the strong bilateral cooperation between Kosovo and Croatia.
The acting foreign minister also explained that the surge in border delays coincides with increased security measures and stricter inspections at the European Union’s external borders following the recent border crisis in Spain. These enhanced controls, combined with the seasonal increase in travel, have significantly extended processing times at border checkpoints.
Konjufca said Kosovo’s institutions will remain in close communication with Croatian authorities, closely monitor developments, and continue working together to facilitate smoother travel for Kosovo citizens throughout the busy summer period.
