Kosovo is ready to provide assistance to Albania and Montenegro as both countries continue to deal with wildfires in several areas, acting Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci said on Friday.
Maqedonci said he had informed his counterparts in Albania and Montenegro of Kosovo’s readiness to provide assistance through the capacities available to the Ministry of Defense.
“Kosovo is ready to contribute in support of the relevant authorities if such assistance is deemed necessary, by making our capacities available to address the situation created by the wildfires,” Maqedonci wrote on Facebook.
He stressed that solidarity and cooperation become particularly important during emergencies.
“The Ministry of Defense, the Kosovo Security Force and other institutions of the Republic remain ready to provide support and contribute wherever our capacities can be useful,” Maqedonci said.
Wildfires have been reported in several areas of Montenegro and Albania. In Montenegro, fires were reported in areas around Ulcinj, while in Albania, areas including Elbasan and Krujë have also been affected.
Kosovo’s offer comes as regional authorities continue efforts to contain the fires and protect communities and infrastructure amid difficult summer conditions.
