Kosovo’s Special Prosecution Office has confirmed that investigations into suspected war crimes in the municipality of Zubin Potok are continuing intensively, with authorities now conducting excavations and investigative work at a third location.
The prosecution said the investigation is being carried out in coordination with the Kosovo Police as part of a case involving suspected war crimes against the civilian population.
“Currently, the investigation is continuing at a third location,” the Special Prosecution said.
The prosecutor responsible for the case was present at the scene alongside investigators from the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes and forensic experts to supervise the investigative procedures.
Authorities have so far arrested three people on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of war crimes against the civilian population.
Several locations have been searched during the investigation. In the village of Jabukë, investigators discovered human remains that will undergo forensic examination and DNA analysis in an effort to establish the identities of the victims.
Meanwhile, excavations in the village of Kalludër e Vogël are continuing.
The investigation follows the discovery of suspected mass-grave sites in the Zubin Potok area, raising renewed questions about the fate of people killed or reported missing during the 1998–1999 Kosovo war.
The Special Prosecution said it could not provide further details at this stage because of the sensitive nature of the investigation.
“Additional information will be published when this becomes possible without compromising the investigation,” the prosecution said.
