Acting President Albulena Haxhiu announced on Monday that she has officially signed the decree to open a new Consular Mission of the Republic of Kosovo in the state of Texas, USA.
In a statement shared via Facebook, Haxhiu emphasized that this move represents a strategic expansion of Kosovo’s diplomatic presence in the United States. She described the decision as both a practical necessity for the growing Kosovar community in the region and a gesture of gratitude toward the diaspora.
Honoring the Diaspora’s Legacy
“In every chapter of our journey, from resistance to state-building, the diaspora has played a key role,” Haxhiu stated. She noted that the Albanian-American community in Texas and surrounding regions has spent decades lobbying and providing vital support for Kosovo’s sovereignty.
Strengthening Economic and Social Ties
The establishment of this mission aims to:
- Provide Essential Services: Facilitate consular assistance for Kosovar citizens living in the southern United States.
- Enhance Presence: Increase Kosovo’s visibility in one of America’s most influential economic and social hubs.
- Deepen Partnerships: Foster closer ties between Kosovo and the state of Texas across various sectors.
By opening this mission, the Acting President highlighted that Kosovo is becoming more accessible to its citizens while positioning itself within a critical gateway of American industry and innovation.
