Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, expressed deep appreciation and pride for the women and girls serving in the Kosovo Police, emphasizing their invaluable contribution to maintaining order, law, and protecting the country’s borders. His remarks came in conjunction with Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s declaration of 2025 as the “Year of Women.”
Sveçla highlighted the significant role of 1,247 women and girls in the Kosovo Police, including 4 colonels, 3 lieutenant colonels, 8 majors, 15 captains, 27 sergeants, 95 corporals, and 746 senior police officers, as well as 251 new recruits. He also praised their participation in special units and border patrols.

He commended the women’s contributions across various police sectors, from community patrols and investigations to border protection and special units. He noted their role as an inspiration for future generations.
“You have courageously paved the way for future generations of girls and women, becoming a symbol of courage, the pursuit of equality, commitment, and professionalism,” he added.
Sveçla reaffirmed his full support for the women officers and encouraged young girls to join the Kosovo Police.
“I publicly pledge to support our women officers with every capacity the law allows. I also invite young girls to join the ranks of the Kosovo Police,” he concluded.
