Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, shared his perspective on the EU’s Progress Report, which he received today from the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Ambassador Aivo Orav.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the EU report indicates that Kosovo has not regressed, but instead has made progress in nearly all fields.

“In its key points, the EU Report on Kosovo positively assesses visa liberalization as a step that is expected to improve the free movement of Kosovo citizens in the Schengen area. It highlights Kosovo’s commitment to aligning with EU policies, specifically the alignment with EU foreign policy, which reflects dedication to cooperation and full integration into the European family.”

Furthermore, the statement notes that this year’s report also commends Kosovo’s active role in implementing the Growth Plan, the reform agenda, and its efforts to promote regional cooperation by unblocking decision-making in CEFTA, with new agreements that strengthen trade and economic ties within the region.

“The strengthening of the legal framework in the fight against corruption and organized crime is also positively recognized as a government priority toward a rule-of-law state. Electoral reforms, along with improvements to free market conditions and support for entrepreneurs, help to enhance competitiveness and attract foreign investment. The report notes there has been no backtracking in any key reform areas, while nearly all fields have shown progress—evidence of the government’s commitment to continuous advancement,” the statement reads.

The Prime Minister welcomed the European Union’s recommendations and emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo remains committed to the path of reforms.

“Full integration of Kosovo into the EU remains our strategic goal, and our commitment to reforms is in the interest of our citizens, fostering comprehensive democratic and socio-economic progress.”
