The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Trade (MINT) of Kosovo has announced new measures to regulate oil product prices and introduce additional protective steps for the market.

Minister Rozeta Hajdari signed a decision setting maximum allowable trade margins for oil products used in transportation. According to the ministry, continuous market monitoring revealed that import price increases were immediately reflected in local retail prices, but decreases in import prices did not result in corresponding retail price reductions.

Under the new decision, the maximum allowed trade margins are set at:

  • 2 eurocents per liter for wholesale sales
  • 12 eurocents per liter for retail sales

The decision obliges all businesses to ensure continuous supply and sales of oil products while adhering to the newly established price margins and other protective measures.

MINT emphasized that the implementation will involve enhanced market inspections, reporting of suspicious cases to the Competition Authority, and close cooperation with the Central Market Inspectorate, Customs, and the Tax Administration of Kosovo.

“This decision represents a further step toward promoting fair market competition and consumer protection by preventing anti-competitive practices and ensuring transparency and equal market conditions in the Republic of Kosovo,” the ministry’s statement concluded.
