The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has confirmed its participation in tomorrow’s continuation of the constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo. The announcement was made by PDK Deputy Chairwoman Vlora Çitaku, who emphasized that the party is acting in accordance with the Assembly’s procedural rules.
“We are obligated by the rules of procedure to be there tomorrow,” said Çitaku in a statement to Gazeta Express.
However, when asked whether PDK still insists that members of the outgoing government formally resign before taking parliamentary seats, Çitaku clarified that “nothing has changed.”
Her remarks come as President Vjosa Osmani responded to a letter from acting Speaker Avni Dehari, stressing that the session must resume within 48 hours of its suspension in line with the Constitution and Assembly regulations.
In parallel, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has also declared its readiness to participate. Party leader Lumir Abdixhiku issued a statement saying LDK deputies will be present in the Assembly hall by 10:00 AM on Thursday, citing the legal timeframe for the session’s continuation.
LDK called on all political parties to ensure their deputies are present and urged the current government cabinet to submit formal resignations to the Assembly structures.
The session was interrupted yesterday after a failure to verify the mandates of the newly elected deputies. Opposition parties, including PDK and LDK, argued that outgoing Prime Minister Albin Kurti and his ministers cannot assume parliamentary roles without first resigning from their executive posts.
The next hours are critical for Kosovo’s institutional continuity, as political parties face mounting pressure to resolve the deadlock and move forward with forming a new government.
