On Friday afternoon, the Kosovo Police concluded a significant police operation in Leposaviq, uncovering evidence of illegal activities aimed at destabilizing the region.
During the operation, police units discovered various uniforms in a house, including those of the Serbian police and military. The Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, Veton Elshani, stated that approximately 20 Serbian police uniforms and two shirts of the Kosovo Police were found.
Elshani further revealed that this operation is part of a broader investigation into illegal activities by Serbian terrorists in the region. Intelligence reports indicate that these groups have been smuggling ammunition and weapons into Kosovo through illegal roads, often using unconventional means such as ambulance vehicles to evade detection. This method has allowed them to transport substantial quantities of arms and munitions without raising suspicion.
The presence of these uniforms suggests a coordinated effort to blend into local law enforcement and military units, potentially to conduct operations or incite violence under the guise of official personnel. The discovery of these items highlights the ongoing threat posed by such groups and the importance of continuous vigilance and enforcement by the Kosovo Police.
Despite the significant findings, Elshani noted that no arrests were made during this particular operation. However, the information gathered will be instrumental in furthering investigations and potentially identifying and apprehending individuals involved in these illegal activities.
The Kosovo Police continue to work diligently to maintain peace and security in the region, facing challenges from groups seeking to disrupt stability. The international community’s support and cooperation are crucial in addressing these threats and ensuring a peaceful future for Kosovo.
