The First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade will begin questioning citizens next week regarding the incident at a student protest where an unknown cause triggered panic and a stampede, Politika reports.

According to the newspaper, prosecutors plan to hear testimony from over 100 individuals who, through NGOs, submitted their personal information and confirmed they were present during the protest. The event was interrupted during a tribute to the victims of the railway station canopy collapse in Novi Sad.

Many of those present reportedly have medical certificates documenting the distress they suffered during the incident.

“Alongside questioning citizens, the prosecution will continue gathering information about other individuals who experienced health issues at the protest,” Politika was told by the Prosecutor’s Office.

The incident occurred on March 15, 2025, at 7:11 PM on Kralja Milana Street, when a strange sound was heard, causing widespread panic, running, pushing, and people falling to the ground.

Politika reminds readers that the First Basic Prosecutor’s Office previously stated that no “sound cannon” (LRAD device) was used during the protest.
