Last night, from the Chair of the Assembly, she dissolved the 10th legislature, and today, to coordinate elections, Albulena Haxhiu received the Chair of the CEC at the Presidency.
The meeting with Kreshnik Radoniqi was held without media presence, and after the meeting Radoniqi briefly spoke, saying that apart from the election date, no other issues were discussed, including the budget needed for organizing elections.
“The issue of the budget has not yet been discussed in the CEC, I believe it will be the same as in previous elections…,” said Kreshnik Radoniqi, head of the CEC.
Radoniqi also admitted that the process is challenging, although he remains optimistic that it will proceed well.
Good expectations have also been expressed by organizations that usually monitor the electoral process.
Vullnet Bugaqku from the Kosovo Democratic Institute said that past practice has shown elections can be organized within shorter deadlines.
“Although the time has been the same, the deadline the same, there have not been many organizational problems. I expect the process will be well organized, because the period of one month shortens procedural deadlines. The CEC has shown that it has the capacity to organize properly,” he said.
According to Bugaqku, this time the Central Election Commission should focus on municipal vote counting centers, following previous experiences with manipulation by commissioners.
“We have seen last year the problems caused by falsified votes by commissioners. There must be vigilance, careful attention in the appointment phase, and party proposals must be properly reviewed,” he stressed.
The Central Election Commission has stated that elections will be organized within shortened deadlines, and one of its first decisions will be to adjust electoral activity timelines according to the circumstances.
