Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, has reaffirmed that the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustifiable Assets will be established, calling it an essential step toward strengthening the rule of law.
Announcing the conclusion of the public consultation period for the draft law, Gërvalla thanked citizens, legal experts, civil society organizations, and justice institutions for their comments and recommendations, stressing that every submission will be carefully reviewed.
She described the creation of the Bureau as a state necessity and a clear commitment to protecting the public interest, strengthening the rule of law, and increasing public trust in Kosovo’s institutions.
Gërvalla emphasized that assets acquired without lawful justification cannot remain untouched and should be verified, confiscated when appropriate, and returned to the citizens.
“Because in the Republic of Kosovo, the law recognizes no untouchables. No one is above the law, and no one can enrich themselves at the expense of the public interest without facing justice,” she stated.
