Emilja Rexhepi, head of the New Democratic Party (NDS), has called for swift institutional formation following Duda Balje’s decision to join the opposition, a move reportedly tied to internal disagreements between the two MPs.

In a statement to FrontOnline, Rexhepi emphasized that minority community representatives must fulfill their constitutional responsibilities and not be blamed for delays in the political process.

“All of us… must vote and form institutions—both the parliament and the government—as soon as possible,” Rexhepi stressed.

She rejected the idea that minority MPs should shoulder the burden for institutional stagnation.

“We should not bear responsibility for the stagnation of Kosovar society,” she added.

Rexhepi also firmly opposed the idea of new elections, citing the upcoming local elections in the fall as a reason to avoid political instability.

“I don’t believe it’s in anyone’s interest to go into elections again,” she said.

Concluding her remarks, she reaffirmed NDS’s support for forming a functional government.

“The position of NDS is clear: We support the vote for the Speaker of Parliament and Prime Minister Kurti,” Rexhepi declared.
