The Acting Deputy Minister of Finance of Kosovo, Agron Doburuna, announced via a Facebook post that he withdrew from a high-level regional conference held in Tirana due to the unacceptable way the Republic of Kosovo was represented at the event.

Doburuna, who had been invited to represent the Republic of Kosovo, stated that he was compelled to leave the conference and refuse to sign the Declaration of Commitment because of the use of a footnote referencing “UN Resolution 1244” a formulation he described as completely unacceptable and contrary to what is normally used by the European Union.

“The manner in which Kosovo’s representation was handled was deeply disappointing and unacceptable for a sovereign state that contributes actively and equally to such processes,” Doburuna wrote, according to Rks News.

He emphasized that the request to correct the representation was ignored by the Albanian Ministry of Health and Social Protection, undermining the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect that the conference itself aims to promote.

“Kosovo is an undeniable international reality. We are firmly committed to guaranteeing the rights of our children and contributing to peace and stability in the region but this cannot be done while our statehood is being denied,” Doburuna stated.

He stressed that the use of such a footnote is not merely a technical issue but directly affects national dignity and the respect Kosovo deserves, especially at an event organized by a friendly country.
