In recent years, parents in Serbia are often surprised to find some illogicality in their children’s textbooks or omissions from publishing houses, and the last event, to put it mildly, shocked some mothers and fathers, but also their teenagers (of course, those who noticed what was wrong in the book), writes Nova.rs. i.e., in the history textbook for the 8th grade there is a lesson titled ” Europe, the world and the Serbian people in the Yugoslav state in the period between the two world wars”.as an illustration of the class was placed the character of the famous movie star Charlie Chaplin, who, apparently, in this lecture must be Adolf Hitler, who is also mentioned in this teaching unit.
In fact, the textbook illustrates a scene from the movie “The Great Dictator”, in which Chaplin portrayed the character of Adolf Hitler.
Parents who noticed that the image of the German dictator was replaced by a photo of Charlie Chaplin were shocked and confused as to why this was so.
“This is scandalous! Education is already quite degraded. To me, it’s really unrealistic that the publishing house, that is, the Ministry of Education, which adopted this textbook, accepted that instead of Hitler, the character was Charlie Chaplin. Wait, kids aren’t stupid. Maybe some of them are not interested in history, but there is no way they could not know who Hitler was.
