Kosovo Police discovered and seized a significant cache of ammunition and military gear during a search of an uninhabited house in the northern municipality of Zubin Potok on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
According to official police reports, the seizure included:
- 293 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.
- One military uniform featuring official Serbian Army (Vojska Srbije) insignias.
Ongoing Investigation
The discovery was made during a targeted search operation. Relevant police units are currently investigating the origins of the items and the circumstances under which they were stored in the abandoned property. No arrests have been reported as of Wednesday evening, but authorities emphasized that forensic units are processing the scene for evidence.
A Recurring Issue in the North
Security officials noted that the discovery of Serbian security forces’ uniforms and weaponry is “not a rare occurrence” in Northern Kosovo. Over the past year, Kosovo Police have conducted several raids in the municipalities of Zubin Potok, Zvečan, and Leposavić, uncovering various stockpiles of illegal arms.
The region remains a focal point for security concerns following the 2023 Banjska attack, which led to increased patrols and a crackdown on illegal military-grade equipment by Kosovo authorities and international peacekeeping forces.
This latest seizure is part of an ongoing effort by the Kosovo Police to dismantle illegal structures and ensure the security of all citizens in the northern region.
