The political party Vetëvendosje has officially confirmed the candidacy of Shpejtim Bulliqi for a second term as mayor of Podujevë in the upcoming local elections. The decision was made during a solemn ceremony at the party’s offices in Podujevë, attended by Bulliqi, Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti, MPs, and other key local and central party figures, reports Rks News.
In his speech, Kurti praised Bulliqi’s work and governance, emphasizing that Podujevë is one of the most successful municipalities in the country regarding the level of investments and projects realized over the past four years. He said it is “hard to find a municipality with so many investments corner to corner throughout the territory, from the city to the villages.”
Vetëvendosje highlighted numerous projects that have fundamentally transformed the municipality’s landscape. These include the completion of three schools and the start of construction on six others, doubling the number of public kindergartens with four new ones being built, as well as the creation of a Central Kitchen to supply food to children in schools and kindergartens.
In the sports sector, two gyms have been completed, another is under construction, seven sports fields are finished, and ten more are in progress. A major project is the semi-Olympic swimming pool, a €4 million investment that will provide advanced sports opportunities for the community.
In healthcare, new emergency centers and Family Medicine Centers have been built in several villages, while a Residential Center for the elderly, offering medical and nutritional services for over 200 people, is nearing completion.
Additionally, works have been carried out to reconstruct main roads and build over 150 kilometers of new roads across the municipality, including significant progress on the Prishtina-Podujevë highway. The Pollata dam project and a wastewater treatment plant are two key environmental investments expected to start soon.
“The industrial zone, green market, and agricultural park are other strategic investments that will strengthen the local economy and create jobs,” Vetëvendosje emphasized, expressing confidence that with Shpejtim Bulliqi at the helm, Podujevë will continue to be a model of development and investment in Kosovo.
Finally, the party expressed full support for Bulliqi’s candidacy and assured citizens that they will strongly campaign to support him in the upcoming elections.
