Former Kosovo Police lieutenant Bojan Jevtiq, who was sentenced to six years in prison and fined €2,000 for espionage, appeared before the Court of Appeals today,Rks News reports.

A hearing was held before the Special Department of the Court of Appeals in case PS No. 19/2026, concerning Jevtiq’s defense appeal against the judgment of the Basic Court in Prishtina.

The defense appealed the length of the sentence, challenging the criminal sanction imposed by the first-instance court.

Jevtiq was sentenced by the Basic Court in Prishtina to six years of effective imprisonment and a €2,000 fine after reaching a plea agreement.

According to the case presented before the court, Jevtiq, who served as a Kosovo Police officer with the rank of lieutenant in Dheu i Bardhë, Kamenica, was accused of intentionally collecting information and transferring official documents over a period of time. The documents allegedly concerned the security and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo.

The case also revealed that meetings had taken place in Belgrade.

At today’s hearing before the Appeals Court, the prosecutor requested that the defense appeal be rejected as unfounded.

She proposed that the Court of Appeals uphold the first-instance judgment, under which the former police lieutenant was sentenced to six years in prison and a €2,000 fine.

The case is being reviewed by a panel of the Special Department of the Court of Appeals, chaired by Judge Vaton Durguti. Judges Faton Ademi and Albina Shabani Rama are members of the panel.

Following consideration of the parties’ arguments, the Court of Appeals will decide on the defense appeal and the first-instance judgment.
