At midnight, students in Novi Sad blocked all entrances to the City Assembly ahead of a session scheduled for Tuesday, where the budget and 160 other important points were to be discussed.
The police intervened with force, using violence against the protesters, resulting in several students being injured.
The students, who had stayed in front of the building all night, were later joined by citizens.
The opposition used banners to express their opposition to the government, with slogans such as “Your hands are stained with blood” and “No justice for the people, no peace for the government.”
After the police intervention, one person was arrested for disobedience to the authorities’ orders, while the siege of the Assembly continued with a large police presence guarding the entrances.
The protesters expressed their determination to remain in place until the end of the session.
