A student protest is scheduled for today at 18:00 in the “Macedonia” square in Skopje, in connection with the tragedy that occurred in Kočani.

59 people lost their lives in a fire that engulfed a nightclub in this city.

Citizens in Kočani, North Macedonia, also protested on Monday, demanding accountability for this tragedy.

The angry protesters began their march from the city park and continued towards the building of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Basic Court of Kočani.

“Justice” and “murderers” were the chants of the citizens.

The protest continued in front of a café which, according to the protesters, belongs to the owner of the now-destroyed nightclub. They also overturned a car, which, according to the protesters, belonged to the nightclub owner, reports ALsat-M, as quoted by Klankosova.tv.

Protests also took place in front of the private residence of the Mayor of Kočani, Lupčo Papazov, who earlier in the day resigned. Citizens threw stones and eggs towards his house.
