The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, visited three police officers who are currently receiving treatment at the Clinical and University Center of Kosovo (CUCK) following injuries sustained in an accident last night in the northern part of the country.

Sveçla reported that their condition is improving, while emphasizing that the causes of the accident are still under investigation. He made the statement after meeting with Health Minister Arben Vitia and the doctors caring for the officers’ health.

“Together with Minister Vitia, we met with the doctors taking care of the police officers. They assured us that they are receiving the highest level of professional care and treatment. Thankfully, their condition is improving. I would like to thank all the medical personnel who have worked tirelessly since last night to ensure the officers receive the necessary care and treatment for their recovery,” Sveçla stated.

The Minister also confirmed that the causes of the accident are still being investigated. “I am happy to report that the officers are no longer in danger of losing their lives,” Sveçla added.

The accident occurred around 8:00 PM in the village of Grabovc. Preliminary reports suggest that the vehicle, a bulletproof official car, skidded off the road.

The Deputy Director of Police for the Northern Region, Veton Elshani, confirmed the incident. “The accident was reported shortly after 8:00 PM in Grabovc. A bulletproof official vehicle, carrying eight police officers, is suspected to have skidded and left the road. Competent police units immediately responded to the scene, and medical teams with ambulances were also dispatched. As a result of the accident, the officers sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for further treatment,” Elshani said in his statement.
