The Swiss Army is currently participating in a large-scale military exercise in Austria involving 1,000 troops, aiming to strengthen Switzerland’s national defense capabilities, albinfo.ch reports.

The drills are taking place at the Allentsteig military training grounds in Austria, a vast area covering 157 square kilometers. The terrain provides a unique and diverse environment for ground combat exercises and tactical training.

As part of the operation, dozens of armored vehicles and tanks have been transported to Austria, including Leopard battle tanks, Piranha armored personnel carriers, and recovery tanks. In total, 11 railway compositions—stretching over 4.3 kilometers—were required to move the military equipment and supplies.

This joint exercise underscores Switzerland’s commitment to maintaining a capable and modern defense force, despite its policy of neutrality.
