U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a Presidential Memorandum ordering the withdrawal of the United States from 66 international organizations which, according to the White House, “no longer serve American interests.”
The announcement was made through an official statement published by the White House on the X platform, under the slogan “America First.”
According to the statement, the decision includes withdrawal from 35 international organizations outside the United Nations system, as well as 31 entities affiliated with the United Nations (UN).
The names of the specific organizations from which the U.S. will withdraw have not been disclosed. The White House emphasized that the measure aims to reassess international commitments in line with the country’s national interests.
The decision is expected to provoke significant reactions on the international stage, particularly within multilateral institutions where the United States has played a key role for decades.
