U.S. President Donald Trump stated today that he will “likely” meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week and suggested a potential conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I will probably meet with President Zelensky next week, and I will probably speak with President Putin. I would like this war to end,” Trump told reporters, as reported by CNN.

When asked whether the meeting would take place in Washington, Trump replied:
“It could be Washington, but I’m not going there,” seemingly dismissing the possibility of traveling to Kyiv.

Zelensky’s Trip to Munich and U.S. Representation

Zelensky is set to lead the Ukrainian delegation at the Munich Security Conference next week.
The U.S. will be represented by Vice President J.D. Vance and Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg, but Trump will not attend.

New U.S. Trade Tariffs Announcement

Following a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Trump also announced that the U.S. will introduce new tariffs on multiple countries next week.

“Next week, I will announce reciprocal trade measures so that America is treated fairly. We don’t want more or less than fair treatment,” Trump said, as reported by FoNet.

According to him, these tariffs on U.S. trading partners will help reduce the national budget deficit.

During his campaign, Trump promised to impose import duties matching the tariffs that certain countries apply to American products.

As the Russia-Ukraine war continues and U.S.-China trade tensions persist, Trump’s next steps could significantly impact global diplomacy and economic relations.
