The United States is seeing “a great commitment from other countries, including China,” said President Donald Trump this afternoon after announcing a 90-day pause on all “reciprocal” tariffs, with the exception of China, which will face increased tariffs of 125%.

“China wants to make a deal. They just don’t know how to do it. You know, it’s one of those things — they don’t fully understand it. They’re proud people,” he told reporters during a statement at the White House.

“And President Xi is a proud man. I know him very well, and they don’t know how to do it. But they will figure it out. They’re in the process of understanding it, but they want to make a deal.”
