The Kosovo Police conducted raids today in two locations in Zubin Potok.

This was confirmed by the Deputy Director for the North, Veton Elshani, who told Dukagjini that one person is being questioned as a suspect, and another is expected to be interviewed.

Elshani further stated that during the operation, police equipment such as uniforms, bulletproof vests, radios, and a hunting rifle were confiscated.

“We carried out two raids in Zubin Potok, one in Varagë. We confiscated a military uniform, a hunting rifle, and a bulletproof vest. Currently, one person is being questioned, and we will interview another shortly. The individuals are being questioned on suspicion of abuse of office,” said Elshani.

It is worth mentioning that from time to time, the Kosovo Police conducts various operations in the northern parts of the country. On November 29, a terrorist attack took place in Varagë, Zubin Potok, which damaged Kosovo’s critical infrastructure.

Additionally, Kosovo authorities arrested eight suspects and confiscated weapons, including explosives, following a large-scale operation in the north related to an explosion at the Ibër-Lepenc canal in this part of Kosovo, as announced on Saturday by Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla.

The explosion on Friday night caused significant damage to the Ibër-Lepenc water channel in the village of Varagë, Zubin Potok, prompting Kosovo authorities to accuse Serbia of committing a “criminal and terrorist” attack on the country’s vital infrastructure.

Sveçla, in a special media conference in South Mitrovica, stated that the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal, which supplies several areas of the country with water, was the most severe attack on critical infrastructure in Kosovo since the war of 1998-1999.

“This terrorist attack is not an ordinary one, but one coordinated by terrorist organizations… The aim was to cause maximum damage to the state of Kosovo and its citizens,” he said.

The arrested individuals are also suspected of links to and inciting recent attacks in the north of the country during this week, including a grenade attack at a police station and the Municipal building in Zveçan, Sveçla added.

Kosovo security authorities, including the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA), conducted a large-scale operation on Saturday at 10 locations, according to Sveçla.
