Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Friday that the world is facing two possible scenarios: a third world war or a long-term ceasefire in Ukraine.
He said that the United States and China could influence the latter.
“One scenario is if the West moves towards a full conflict with Russia, as it is not entirely easy to stop the Russian army on the ground,” Vučić said at a press conference in Belgrade with the President of the Bavarian state, Markus Söder. “And the second is that with the help of the United States and China, a kind of long-term ceasefire, if not permanent peace, would be established, which would mean a great relief for the world,” AA reported.
He added that if it goes towards conflict, no one would win anything.
Meanwhile, Söder said it is very important for Serbia to become an EU member and the country will have the support of Bavaria.
“We are strongly advocating for Serbia to join the European Union. It would be a great shame for Europe, but I also think for Serbia, if you don’t go down that path,” Söder said.
He said it is important for Serbia, “as the strongest state in the Balkans, with a European tradition, to be a strong and good partner.”
Söder said Bavaria will open a representative office in Belgrade, which will be responsible for the development of economic, scientific, and technical cooperation.
