Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has issued a stern warning, stating that the arrest of Milorad Dodik, the president of Republika Srpska, would be catastrophic for both the region and Serbia. Vučić emphasized that such a move could trigger severe consequences for stability in the Balkans.

In his remarks, Vučić explained that in the past 10 days, he had been engaged in diplomatic efforts, negotiating with officials from NATO and high-ranking European Union representatives in Brussels to find a compromise over the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, he stated that no solution had been reached that could satisfy all parties involved without causing harm to any side.

Vučić’s comments came as he underscored the difficult situation ahead for Serbia. He warned that the country faces “a hard battle,” but reiterated his determination to uphold Serbia’s principles.

“I have tried in the past 10 days to negotiate at all levels, pleading with people in NATO, the EU, and everyone else to find a compromise solution within Bosnia and Herzegovina. A solution that does not humiliate any party and brings long-term stability,” Vučić said.

He further added that the consequences of arresting Milorad Dodik would be disastrous for both the region and Serbia, stating that such a decision would trigger a “catastrophic” chain of events.

“We have a tough fight ahead of us. We will stick to the principles of what is in our minds, no matter what happens in Serbia,” Vučić continued. “We will base our actions on international legal assistance according to the demands of Sarajevo, but at the same time, we seek justice for the people of Republika Srpska.”

Vučić also hinted at potential consequences for any serious escalation, suggesting that Serbia and Republika Srpska would remain united in their resolve, drawing strength from their shared goals and perspectives.

The remarks reflect heightened tensions in the region and a clear indication from Serbia that any action against Dodik could lead to serious repercussions for the Balkans as a whole.
