The Palestinian Ambassador to the United Kingdom has responded to comments by U.S. President Donald Trump about relocating Palestinians from Gaza.
Trump’s idea of relocating people from Gaza elsewhere risks the “erasure of Palestine.”
This was declared by the Palestinian Ambassador to the UK, Husam Zomlot, who added that he was disappointed by Trump’s “one-sided” approach to the conflict.
“This is about erasing Palestine. And the epicenter of this erasure is ethnic cleansing,” he said.
He mentioned that most of Gaza’s inhabitants come from cities that have already been “ethnically cleansed” by Israel.
“If they have been tested through genocide and they have remained in their homes, that one-sided show in Washington will not change the course of history. We will remain there,” he said.
The future must bring “the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people” and “the creation of an independent Palestinian state.”
“If people from Gaza are going somewhere, they will return to their homes within the 48 areas occupied by Israel in 1948, nowhere else,” Zomlot added.
“We only have one homeland, and that is Palestine,” he concluded.
