Wildfires have broken out in the villages of Kutlloc and Bajgorë in the Mitrovica area, with firefighting teams, volunteers and other emergency personnel deployed to contain the flames.
Mitrovica Mayor Faton Peci said firefighting efforts began immediately after the fires were reported, with teams working on the ground to bring the situation under control.
According to Peci, emergency crews are using all available resources to prevent the fires from spreading to surrounding areas.
He urged residents to exercise particular caution during the ongoing period of high temperatures and to avoid any activity that could trigger or spread fires.
“If you notice a fire or any situation that could pose a risk of it spreading, please immediately notify the responsible teams at +383 28 530 129,” Peci wrote on Friday.
Authorities have urged residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant as firefighting operations continue.
