Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the need for strong relations between Kyiv and Bratislava during a phone call with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
Zelensky said both countries share a common interest in strengthening cooperation, adding that Slovakia’s support for Ukraine’s membership in the European Union is encouraging.
He also noted that he has invited Fico to visit Kyiv and received an invitation to visit Bratislava, with teams from both sides set to work on scheduling the dates.
The call comes after diplomatic tensions between the two countries related to energy supplies through the Druzhba pipeline, which had previously affected relations between Kyiv and Bratislava.
However, recent reports indicate a resumption of supplies and the unblocking of certain financial agreements at the European level, signaling efforts to normalize relations.
