Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Russian war against Ukraine could potentially end next year.

Speaking at the third international food security conference, Grain from Ukraine, in Kyiv, Zelensky said:

“When will the war end? When Russia decides it wants the war to end. When the United States takes a stronger stance. When the Global South stands with Ukraine and supports an end to the war. It won’t be an easy path, but I am convinced we have every chance for this to happen next year,” Zelensky remarked, as reported by Ukrinform.

He added, “We are open to proposals from leaders in Africa, Asia, and the Arab world. I would also like to hear the proposals of the new U.S. President, and I believe we will hear them in January, along with a plan to end this war.”

During his campaign, newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly expressed his intention to reduce the significant U.S. support for Kyiv. Since his election, however, Trump has not reiterated his previous claims that he could “end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours.”
