Albulena Haxhiu, Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, held a meeting Tuesday with Nikollë Camaj, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding parliamentary cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
Camaj is visiting Kosovo as part of official events marking the 18th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence, during which both officials highlighted the traditionally close relations and discussed opportunities for further collaboration, particularly at the legislative and institutional levels.
During the meeting, Haxhiu briefed Camaj on the formation and consolidation of Kosovo’s new institutions, established following the December 28 parliamentary elections, emphasizing their commitment to strengthening democratic governance, the rule of law, and sustainable economic and social development.
Camaj congratulated Haxhiu on both Kosovo’s Independence Anniversary and her new leadership role as Speaker of the Assembly, reaffirming Montenegro’s support for deeper bilateral cooperation rooted in friendship and regional partnership.
He also reiterated Montenegro’s support for Kosovo’s membership ambitions in the Council of Europe and NATO, highlighting Podgorica’s continued backing of Kosovo’s integration into key international institutions.
Both officials further discussed enhancing cooperation between the two parliaments through the exchange of legislative experiences and best practices. Particular emphasis was placed on parliamentary friendship groups, which were described as an important mechanism for fostering institutional dialogue and strengthening diplomatic ties.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Kosovo and Montenegro to expand political cooperation and support regional stability through stronger parliamentary engagement and shared democratic values.
